Riku was born in November 2007 and lives in Vantaa, Finland. At younger age he was more into football and bowling, but as he started growing interest in pool, the success came very quickly. Riku’s achievements include the World Championship bronze for Juniors under 17 (at the age of 13), two European Championship silvers and one European Championship bronze. At the end of 2022, Riku finished number 60 in the adult world rankings, which is an achievement that no one else in the world has been able to see at the age of 14. He is the youngest ever Finnish Championships medalist in the adult category, which features all of Finland’s top players including professionals. In addition to pool, he’s reached podium in the U21 series in snooker and kaisa. In 2022, Riku beat several world-renowned players in competitions, such as the then world ranking number one, two-time world champion Albin Ouschan, in the autumn world ranking competition.
Riku is the only Finnish junior player and the most active junior player in the world who travels abroad playing in open tournaments. These include all the biggest European tournaments and the so-called major tournaments in other parts of the world.
